Let's look at some examples of fish life cycles. Starting with my favorite, the kūmū life cycle!

 

There are Hawaiian names for each of the stages in my life cycle. As I grew to a different stage, my name changed.

 

Once I became an adult kūmū, I was able to reproduce and have young kūmū of my own.
